While the tequila category has seen explosive growth for the last couple of years, slowly but steadily a new trend is starting to form: the rise of the “agave spirit.” This has long been a blanket term for distillates made by cooking, crushing, fermenting, and distilling agaves, which includes both tequila and mezcal. But it is also a term that is starting to show up more frequently on bottles in the U.S. and Mexico, not only as descriptors of regional spirits (including raicilla and bacanora),

The only reason I keep it in the back of my liquor cabinet is on the off chance I ever meet anyone who wants a Negroni.
This bottle is a hoot. The labels sports classy Medieval stylings, and the back label proclaims, “The Zenith of possibility in Whiskey Quality.” Mind you, it is 51% straight whiskey, and 49% grain neutral spirits—making it pretty cheap stuff.

Ok, gotta make up for not posting in a year and post a bunch this week! This is the second cocktail I designed (or I should say modified) for my annual Xmas party this year.
