After Wednesday’s two taproom closure announcements, here’s some happy news for your Friday afternoon: Keeping Together was finally able to source and receive a replacement brewhouse after losing a ton of money when their previous supplier closed up shop, leaving them (at the time) s**t outta luck. Even though they’re in New Mexico now, I (and many others) are surely super glad to see more forward progress for the brewery project originally launched in Chicago. averieswanson A

Before we jump into the weekly label roundup, we have to acknowledge a couple of closure announcements that just hit the Chicagoland beer scene. Yesterday afternoon, longtime Evanston brewer Temperance announced that their taproom would be closing on October 27. Temperance established itself early by taking home a GABF Silver for their Gatecrasher IPA in 2014, which went on to earn Gold in 2016.

ASLEF and RMT Unions announce industrial action planned for 7th and 12th November, 2024 Travel trade unions ASLEF and RMT have announced their workers will hold several strike days in November. Engineering staff will walk out on November 1st, followed by London Underground drivers and operators on November 7th and 12th. In all three cases, tube services are likely to be severely disrupted and subject to cancellation.

By my count, California took home 71 medals, Colorado brewers earned 41 and Oregon brewers brought home 38. That’s not even including the Brewery of the Year awards, three of which went to Oregon breweries - plus an Oregon producer won the first “best cidermaker” award as well.
