A shared, joyous approach to new experiences held our enthusiasm, in spite of jetlag, lack of sleep and bellies full of Mezcal.

The theme for today’s email is WTF, and not just because Metropolitan Brewing announced yesterday that they would close for good on December 17th. I’ve written a lot about Metro in recent weeks as news of their bankruptcy swirled, and I’m still organizing my thoughts on this announcement and what it means to the Chicagoland brewing scene.
In the very early days of BarLifeUK, when co-founder Simon Webster and I were young and full of vim, the TV show Californication , which followed the sexy mishaps and misdeeds of past-his-prime writer Hank Moody (played by David Duchovny) and his best friend and literary agent Charlie Runkle (no-one remembers who played Charlie), was extremely popular.

Tweet It’s a Sativa by nature, but sometimes it feels more Indica-leaning- but certainly not like hybrids… It reminds me of the fine cannabis that I used to get in southern Maine back in the mid-1980s. It was that or the “whatever we could get,” which was nothing to write home about in the 1970s and 1980s.
Before we jump into the news about Turner Haus’s taproom opening, I want to circle back to something that I asked y’all about before FoBAB last weekend. I did get a few great responses to my request for recommendations on things that had opened in the past few years that had faded from front-of-mind. First up, the west-suburban contingent came out in full force, recommending a visit to St.
