Just when I thought I had processed my thoughts on Metropolitan Brewing announcing their closure, Goose Clybourn had to go and blow everything up today by telling everyone that their final date in operation will be December 10. Yes, they announced a while ago that they’d be shuttering the OG brewpub eventually, and yes, they’re opening a new space at the Salt Shed 1 but now that Clybourn’s expiry date is in the world, it feels like another door is about to slam shut.

A cramped, twelve seater bus trundles through the street-art-riddled roads of Oaxaca… Inside, a bottle of mezcal exchanges hands like an adult game of pass the parcel. Broken speakers belt out classic Rock and Pop hits, completing the scene of sing-songing, drink-slinging new friends. A shared, joyous approach to new experiences held our enthusiasm, in spite of jetlag, lack of sleep and bellies full of Mezcal.

This 2024 bottling is made from the largest selection of states and bourbons for a single release from the brand this year. (Kentucky, Wyoming, New York, Tennessee, Indiana, Texas, Ohio, and Maryland.) The ages of the bourbons range from 5-15 years and it has a derived mash bill recipe of 72% corn, 22% rye, 5% malted barley and 1% wheat.
