The Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) , the trade organization that represents and promotes the scotch whisky industry, has released H1 figures showing a drastic decline in exports compared to H1 2023. Data reveals that the value of scotch whisky exports fell by 18% to £2.1 billion compared to the same period in 2023.

Whatever the vintage or varietal, red wines from Mendoza-based Mascota tend to lean in one direction: big and lively. Their sublabel, Unanime , and this Cabernet proves no exception to the rule. Based on the nose, one would be reasonably forgiven for assuming this was a Malbec if handed a glass free from contextual clues. Loads of dark cherry and pepper right out of the bottle, with baking spice following suit within a few minutes of arrival and a few solid swirls in the glass.

Redbreast has announced the release of its latest expression, Redbreast 18 Year Old Irish whiskey. This is the first 18 year old release for the brand, as well as Redbreast’s first use of cream sherry casks. Redbreast master blender David McCabe and Redbreast master blender emeritus Billy Leighton created this expression, drawing inspiration from aged inventory at Midleton Distillery, while also using an array of cask types.

On Monday, Mount Gay Rum announced the second installment in its Single Estate Series: 24_02_Vt18d2. The Single Estate Series was launched in October 2023 to showcase varying elements of the Barbados estate’s terroir, with each spirit made exclusively from sugar cane grown on the St. Lucy property. While the series’ first installment featured sugar cane harvested in 2016 and 2017, the new expression’s sugar cane was exclusively harvested in Summer 2018.
