This Week's Beer News: Pretzel Wheat is Back, Baby

Guys Drinking Beer - Beer News

Breaking news from Tilray, the new owners (relatively speaking) of Shock Top Brewing and many other former Anheuser Busch brands: Their Pretzel Wheat beer has returned , and with it, a chance to win a trip to Munich for this year’s Oktoberfest. Apparently it’s returning after a three-year hiatus; I only ever remember stumbling upon it once, which would have been when I reviewed it for the GDB site in 2016.

From Beer Bikes to Champagne-Soaked Train Excursions, Europeans Adore Drinking on the Go

VinePair

It’s a chilly, drizzly November evening but on Platform 1 at London’s Victoria Station, spirits are high. The Essential Cheeses of France [MAP]

VinePair

Just like wine, cheese is central to France’s identity and culture. Also as with wine, each region boasts its own specific styles of cheese, and some even have official designations. Though we’re used to seeing household names like Munster on supermarket shelves in the U.S., there is a plethora of delicious regional varieties to get to know. Some of these include creamy Camembert from Normandy, funky wedges of Roquefort from the south, and smooth wheels of Saint-Paulin hailing from the coast.

Review: Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond 10 Years Old Spring 2024 Edition

Drinkhacker

After an 8 year old expression in Fall 2023 (which didn’t arrive until well into 2024), Heaven Hill’s Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond wheated bourbon is back with a new 10 year old offering, distilled in the Spring of 2014. Old Fitz is almost always a corn-heavy expression and this bottling doesn’t rock the boat. Notes of cracked black pepper, fresh cereal (lightly sweetened), and honey are all dominant on the nose, with an underbelly of cracked, old leather.

Review: 2021 Kenefick Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon Chris’s Cuvee

The Chris in question is Chris Kenefick, the winemaker at Kenefick Ranch.
