Distilling using locally grown heirloom corn, Widow Jane Distillery has introduced Baby Jane Bourbon by Widow Jane. This is the result of a decade-long journey. In 2013, Widow Jane Head Distiller Sienna Jevremov, along with the Brooklyn distillery’s long-tenured operations lead, Michele Clark, hopped in their sedan and headed upstate. The duo were curious about heirloom corn: the kind of corn that could yield an intense whiskey flavor and incredibly creamy mouthfeel.

Islay distillery Ardbeg today announced the release of The Abyss, aged 34 years. This whisky originates from a previous release: the limited-edition Ardbeg Corryvreckan, launched in 2008. To bring The Abyss to life, American comic-book artist Tradd Moore reimagined the legend of the Corryvreckan whirlpool in a graphic novel. Set on “Planet Ardbeg,” it is available in print exclusively with The Abyss’s 400 numbered bottles.
