Chandigarh receives limited bids for liquor vends

Chandigarh’s excise and taxation department has received bids for only 51 liquor vends of the total 97 liquor vends available for allotment under the Chandigarh’s excise policy, for the fiscal year 2024-25. For the financial year 2024-25, the department has decided to give 84 licences and increase the number of liquor vends from 95 to 97. The total reserve price of all liquor vends in Chandigarh has been fixed at Rs. 452.29 crore.

Bruichladdich Distillery Company has released Port Charlotte 18 Year Old. This stays true to the traditionally heavily peated Port Charlotte profile, the distillery says. The spirit matured in a combination of refill sherry casks (74%) and refill French oak wine casks (26%). Altogether this adds dried fruit and sweetness to the single malt, according to distillery notes, complementing Port Charlotte’s barbeque peat smoke.
