Uber to close its alcohol delivery app

Uber has decided to shut down its alcohol delivery app named Drizly by the end of March 2024. Uber bought Drizly in 2021 for $1.1 billion. In a statement a company official said that Uber had decided to shut the Drizly-based business and focus on Uber Eats. Uber acquired the app to strengthen its position in the alcohol delivery market. Drizly provided technology to liquor stores for their deliveries and was the leading on-demand alcohol delivery service in the US, available in 1,400 cities.
