“The Savoy Cocktail Book” is one of the most important tomes in the world of cocktail literature. Published in 1930, the book was compiled by bartender Harry Craddock, who served as the head bartender at the Savoy Hotel’s American Bar in London for over a decade. Read ‘em and weep. We’ll never know.
If youre a fan of pre-Prohibition cocktails, youll see a vast number of recipes that contain either brandy or Cognac. Before whiskey became the common base spirit, people often made their Old Fashioneds with brandy. Cognac is a type of brandy, but not all brandy is Cognac. I think we are missing out, though.
