I spent money on Bourbon County Stout. The tasting notes from Whiskey Raiders are pretty good too. New American whiskey and bourbon releases this week include a Bottled-In-Bond expression from Westward Whiskey and a new Experimental Batch bourbon from Chattanooga. The Bottled-In-Bond designation was introduced in 1897 and has since stood as a pillar of quality assurance for American whiskey.
These barrels have normally been used to mature a different spirit, wine, or beer. This gives the whiskey ample time to interact with the wood and take on the characteristics of the liquid that was previously matured in the cask, unlocking new flavors and profiles. There is no minimum “finishing” period for a bourbon.
