The amount of 10th anniversary events emerging over the last few weeks have made me wonder: Was May-June 2014 the busiest time in Chicago craftbeer history? Hailstorm Brewing also celebrates ten years of beers with a party on Saturday and a special anniversary release of their GABF medal-winning Prairie Madness Pale Ale.
If you’re looking to get out and about over the next few weeks, the events calendar is still pretty dang full while breweries wait for warmer, more beer-friendly weather to arrive. On Saturday you can celebrate International Orval Day at The Beer Temple , one of the official destinations for the annual festivities.

Most-clicked link in last week’s email : By far the most clicked email was the news about which three breweries would be closing their taprooms for RNC events … or just during the RNC in general. With their Grand Opening today, we’d like to officially welcome Demo to the Chicagoland beer scene! Don’t get me wrong - October is definitely one of the best months of the year for drinking beer, but it seems like just a few hours ago I was nursing a variety of beers on a beach somewhere. I have admittedly not attended this event, but it does seem pretty cool and the lineup is a nice cross-section of Chicago-area beermakers.
To all of us, I recommend reading this story on Forbes about Oberon’s history, its status as a state “holiday” and then also a look at the many Oberon release day events around Michigan. I’m not fully sure why a publication called The Tech Edvocate wrote up a story praising The Beer Temple , but they did!
