A few months back I found myself picking up a bottle of the Italian Liqueur Aperol. Knowing that it’s basically a Manhattan ruined by Campari, you’ll never see me reviewing that on this blog. Muck like the liqueur itself it’s best used as an aperitif, and for that it makes for a perfect starter for a cocktail party.

Try subbing 50ml of dry manzanilla for the London dry in your Negroni and you’ll have a great aperitif that’s easier on your head than the original. A bottle will keep for about two weeks in the fridge after opening so you don’t have to finish it all in one night. Bamboo Fills a Martini-shaped hole without the large helping of gin.

I awarded each bottle of non-alcoholic bubbles that I list here with anywhere between 1 – 10 Bubbles. Lovely as an aperitif. 10 Classico from Lyre’s Available in 250ml cans and 750ml bottles (the “Grande”), Lyre’s Classico is “an Italian-inspired sparkling with a crisp, dry finish.” Good, active bubbles.
