Having fallen in love with the popular Mexican spoon candy, brewer Colby Magratten crafted a recipe with Goose Island’s bourbon barrel-aged barleywine that blends together tamarind, lime, whole Guajillo chiles and piloncillo. WGLT reports on the new partnership between Destihl and the Hanson brothers line of beers. Pretty handy!

The World Beer Cup awards were announced Wednesday night and I’m always thrilled when the most competitive award goes to a Midwestern brewery — even more so when it’s one of my favorites in Chicago. Old Irving Brewery’s Beezer beat out 325 other beers to earn the Gold Medal for Juicy/Hazy IPA.

Not only is Octopi going to start brewing Asahi Ultra Dry for this continent, but per the press release they’ll also apparently be brewing beer for a Czech brand owned by Asahi called Kozel, at a time when Czech-style beers are still in their ascendancy.
