Our last encounter with Wyoming’s Outryder dates back to the 2021 edition. For this seventh release, this American whiskey that threads the needle between bourbon and rye comes with its origin story, which I don’t recall ever reading. When we first reviewed The Busker Irish Whiskey line in 2021 we found their Single Pot Still variety our favorite of their four offerings. The whiskey does not have an age statement, but it was aged in first-fill bourbon casks and then finished in Oloroso sherry casks. It’s definitely worth tracking down.

Denver’s Laws Whiskey House releases bonded versions of three whiskeys each year, and, interestingly, Laws has continued to let them get older and older. December 2021 saw the opening of a second location in River Falls, Wisconsin. With its whiskey program, Tattersall runs a sweet mash fermentation over 5 days. The whiskey is twice-distilled with the pot portion, as the column is deactivated. Sadly, Tattersall permanently shuttered the Minneapolis location on November 30, 2024.
