Bomfim is part of Portugal’s Dow group — known for its Port wines — which in turn is part of the sprawling Symington family. Unlike its better-known brands, Vale do Bomfim focuses exclusively on table wines — and affordable ones at that. Hearty and quite raisiny, this wine clearly hails from the land of Port.

Cicinis is a bit different, a sauvignon blanc wine produced in Collio, in the very most northeast part of the country, bordering Slovenia. Delightful on its own or with seafood. A- / $18 / attems.it

This wine has been around for decades, providing a reliable choice for fans of California Cabernet. The 2020 release is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 2% Malbec, and 1% Petit Verdot. I’m not sure how it happened, but this is our first time reviewing Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
