Review: 2018 Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville

Drinkhacker

2018 is widely considered the best vintage for Napa cabernet sauvignon since the vaunted 1997 release, which is perhaps why Paul Hobbs was so careful about the timing of this Coombsville bottling, which was kept in the cellar until 2024. We were fortunate enough to score a bottle while it remains, barely, available to purchase.

Review: 2018 Baldacci Vineyards Thomas Collection Cabernet Sauvignon

Drinkhacker

Far too often, wineries present an expression christened as a “flagship” or “marquee” bottle with very little distinction from the remainder of its offerings. Do not hesitate or deliberate if you are ever fortunate to have in your presence a soul generous enough to offer to open a bottle. Extraordinary stuff.

Review: 2018 Mazzei Ser Lapo Chianto Classico DOCG

Drinkhacker

This wine, Ser Lapo, is aged for 12 months in small French oak barrels (50% new). Before I knew it, two of us had drained a bottle over a meal of Korean chicken wings. The post Review: 2018 Mazzei Ser Lapo Chianto Classico DOCG appeared first on Drinkhacker: The Insider's Guide to Good Drinking. No complaints.
