Between 2019-2024, Nick Offerman collaborated with Lagavulin to release four Offerman Edition expressions, each 11 Years Old and bottled at 46% ABV, featuring cask finishes including Guiness, Charred Oak, and ex-Caribbean rum. The Offerman Charred Oak Edition was the first to be released across both the US and UK whisky markets.

Firstly, the popularity of blended scotch whiskies, previously high and reliable, began to decline. Increasingly, the public (both domestically and abroad) began to favour lighter spirits such as rum and vodka. Whisky became a drink of the past and did not appeal to a younger generation. Brora Distillery reopened in 2021.

A second update occurred in 2017, as the SMWS further redesigned its bottle labels to better highlight whisky styles and bottlings from different regions. SMWS Today The SMWS now bottles around 500 casks a year, diversifying its spirit range to also include single grain, world whiskies, rum, gin, cognac, and other spirits.
