The newest offering for Whiskey Club members is a bottled in bond expression with maturation beyond 7 years. In March 2017, the whiskey entered new oak barrels with a #3 char and medium toasted heads coopered by McGinnis Wood Products. In accordance with the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, the whiskey is bottled at 100 proof.

Writing this feature in 2024, I’m tempted to recycle a similar piece I did on craft beer circa 2017. It’s not uncommon to say that the whiskey industry is five to seven years behind craft beer in terms of trends. Will the industry fall into a similar trap as what has happened with craft beer?
