Turning to the reliable metric of whisky awards, Johnnie Walker Double Black has garnered many accolades over the years, including a Double Gold Medal at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, as well as in 2015. In June 2015, celebrating the 150 th anniversary of the Grant family’s ownership of the Glenfarclas distillery, the £511.19s.0d. Family Reserve was released. The £511.19s.0d. Family Reserve’s cryptic name referenced the price John Grant paid for Glenfarclas in 1865, with the bottling including a replica of the original bill of sale.
