Then banana flambéed, coconut… Then some high-end wine (great old Pomerol – no, not just any merlot)… Then chicory… Then lots of pineapple liqueur, Malibu, old Muscat wine. One of these bottles sold in October 2015 for £3,300 at Whisky Online Auctions. Bold, coating… Gets then quite smoky, with some mocha. Really breathtaking.

The texture and aroma are derived from its unique production from the blend of Grain and Single Pot still whiskey, as similar to the single malt whiskey (mash of malted and un-malted barley), small amount of Oats and wheat may have been used at time. the barley then is dried in a closed kiln fired by natural Gas.

Awards Won by J&B Rare J&B Rare has won multiple gold and silver medals in prestigious spirits competitions , including Gold at The Scotch Whisky Masters in both 2014 and 2015. In 2015, it earned a Gold Medal in the Blended: Standard category at The Scotch Whisky Masters, run by industry publication The Spirits Business.

The Glenury Royal in particular is layered with leather, tar, sherry, marmalade, pot still funk, herbal liqueurs, orange oil, fresh pine, and an immense spicinessan almost endless list of aromas and flavours that make me crave another pour. From 2015 onwards, I was picking up bottles for around 100opening them, drinking them, sharing them.
