R&B Distillers was founded in 2014 by Alasdair Day and Bill Dobbie, who quickly established the first legal distillery on the island of Raasay in 2017. The distillery has also produced Isle of Raasay Gin, which went on sale in 2019. The inaugural whisky release from Isle of Raasay Distillery hit the shelves in 2020.
Today, Bowmore is owned by Beam Suntory, following Jim Beam’s purchase of Suntory in 2014. Innovations included a new bottling line, an updated wood quality policy, and gin distillation. Perhaps one of the most recognizable series of whiskies distilled in the Morrison era is the Black Bowmores.
In 2014, Dewars expanded its single malt portfolio which now includes Aberfeldy , Aultmore, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla, and The Deveron. Under the leadership of Leonard and his father, Ian Macleod has gone from strength to strength, acquiring the Glengoyne Distillery in 2003, Tamdhu in 2011, Edinburgh Gin in 2016, and Rosebank in 2017.
Eden Mill head distiller Scott Ferguson collaborated on their design, aiming to recreate the light, floral, and grassy new make spirit profile he first developed in 2014. The facility will operate its gin still using 100% renewable energy, partially sourced from the University’s solar farm.
