For those of you who have been able to experience their sherry and rum cask releases, you, no doubt, will have noticed the cask flavors dominate the profile and take you on a stunning journey of flavor from across the world. If you’re looking to treat yourself then I’d chase down the sherry cask or the rum cask releases.
This new single malt scotch whisky was distilled from lightly peated barley. The spirit was then divided into Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (9 years) and Jamaican rum casks (10 years). The brand was launched in 2013 as a lightly peated expression (15 phenol parts per million).
In 2013, Offerman and the Parks and Recreation team approached Lagavulin to film Ron Swanson’s visit to the distillery, featured in the show’s sixth season two-part opening episode ‘London’. In 2019, the first Lagavulin Offerman limited edition was released, exclusively available to the US market and distillery visitors.
Benromach Cask Strength Vintage This 2013 vinatge is a favorite of mine. The distillery releases a wide range of expressions, many bottled at 50% ABV or higher, often with a strong focus on sherry, rum, or Sauternes cask influence. A truly unforgettable dram that will leave you wanting more. Truly delicious.
