This particular expression showcases spirit from the Port Dundas Distillery, which closed in 2011 after owner, Diageo, decided to shift focus to the grain whisky giant, Cameronbridge. Whilst the whisky is still a blend under the Blue Label umbrella, the contents is different to that of the standard Blue Label.

A 1979 vintage, the whisky was matured for 32 years and released to the public in 2011 at 53.9% The Annual Releases have long captured the interests of scotch whisky collectors. However, it was in the same year that Diageo announced plans to reopen the distillery, as well as Brora in the Highlands. Hope was rekindled.

The 70cl version of the 1997 14 Year Old Easter Elchies was launched in 2011. Named for Easter Elchies House, an icon of the Macallan Estate landscape, the Easter Elchies series (specifically the ones with the colored ribbons) began in 2008. Bottled from sherry butt #16946 at 59.47, the whisky represents one of just 550 bottles.
