In 2011, Marrero filled in at agave bar Mayahuel, and met Ivy Mix. Mix approached Marrero with the idea for a competition that would celebrate, connect, and promote women. Marrero also founded the N.Y. chapter of Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails (LUPEC) in 2009. The magic extends beyond the network.
