Founded by Ben and Cindy Curtis in 2010, TSC started with a modest beginning of only four casks.

SMWS is also known for its unique numbering system to identify its bottlings. The second number, ‘46’ in this case, refers to the cask that is being bottled.

Once the brand is recognized as premium, like The Macallan, bottles of Glenrothes will become increasingly rare and expensive. One such bottle of Glenrothes whisky is the Glenrothes 1957 22 Year Old Cadenhead Dumpy. The whisky was bottled from a sherry cask – a Speyside staple – in July of that year at 80 proof.

I split a bottle of this with a colleague when it arrived in the shop we work in, simply delicious! Throwing even more caution to the wind, here’s a bottle matured in four different casks, but where the Madeira and port really lead the way. This was a bottle that was on my shelf constantly and is still replaced when it runs out.
